I'm on Section 3 (Straight Rows), and I've misplaced the piece of paper on which I was counting rows. If I've done the correct number of repeats, I should have 13 ladders of dropped stitches at the end of this section, right?

I’m so proud, I finally finished my first Clapotis. I’ve worn it everywhere since I finished it (it’s been too warm for wool but dammit, I finished it and I’m going to wear it!), and I had a non-knitter come up to me in the mall to say she liked it and wanted to know where I got it! Which is a big deal to me, coming from someone who doesn’t knit.

I'm feeling the Clapotis-craving yet again, dang it. But I really, really hate how my k tbl stitches look. They're always lopsided. It bugs me.

Can I do without them? Will it turn out horrible and stretchy and ill-defined if I k instead of k tbl?

(I do k tbl correctly, according to two books and knittinghelp.com; I just don't do it well.)

I would say this is probably my largest project (although, not my most difficult). I had a lot of fun knitting it. I got it done fairly quickly, despite a little blip in performance. I think it was about 12 days of knitting or so. It would have been less if I had read my directions thoroughly. What I learned from this one: always read ( Read more... )

Several weeks ago a group at my school had a table where they were trying to raise awareness about organ donations. In addition to the usual information, they were giving out YARN! The idea was for people to use it it knit or crochet shawls that could then be donated to a group that gives them to family members of people whose organs were donated ( Read more... )

I finally finished the clapotis for my mom. It is now blocking on the back of the couch. Pictures behind the cut:

I finally finished my first Clapotis (and my largest project to date) last night.  I'm so excited...so much so that I had to take pictures before I washed/blocked it.

I did it in Bamboo by Southwest Trading Company.  The color is "electric blue" and looks a bit more electric than any of the pictures show.  I used the size needles the pattern ( Read more... )

I'm working on my first clapotis. I'm almost halfway into the straight section, and it's going fine (other than one mistake where I somehow managed to drop 2 columns of stitches instead of just one; it's on the edge, so it's a short section of drops, so I'm leaving it).
